FIVE STEPS TO WIN RSN

In 2023 the Lib Dems made big gains: we won the popular vote and several wards are now completely controlled by Lib Dem councillors.

We’ve shown that when we organise and campaign hard, people put their trust in us.

My plan is to build on this momentum — uniting our local party and turning council wins into a parliamentary victory by showing that we are unstoppable and effective local champions.

STEP 1. KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM

VOTE SHARE AT LAST TVBC ELECTIONS

I know how to bring people together. From founding DemocraFest to organising the Lib Dems’ biggest new donor club, I’ve built communities that last.

Flagship idea: “Walk to Save the Test” — an annual Clarendon Way walk raising funds to protect the Test and building our supporter list and raise our profile in rural communities.

A programme of inspiring Hampshire Sessions talks and events, run in pubs, village halls and city venues, designed to recruit and energise members.

A focus on schools, young people and first-time voters — showing that politics is relevant and how to get involved. I will try to speak at every school in the region to engage young people.

Regular community drop-ins across the constituency to show that we have a real local presence and are listening to residents’ concerns.

STEP 2. GROW OUR COMMUNITY

Our constituency is unique: it stretches from rural Test Valley villages to the market town of Romsey to the city streets of Southampton. I grew up in our countryside, but I’ve also lived and worked in big cities, so I understand both worlds.

Our campaign will speak to every community — farmers, families, students and small businesses.

Our campaign will emphasise key Liberal Democrat policies that will speak to all constituents, no matter where they live:

  • Improve local services

  • Build more homes in the right places

  • Invest more in our NHS

  • Save the River Test

  • Grow a green economy

  • Support our farmers

STEP 3. PRIDE IN OUR DIVERSITY

Campaigns are won with energy, people, and money — and I know how to deliver all three. I’ve spent years raising funds and building networks that turn ideas into action.

  • Raised tens of thousands for non-profits.

  • Launched a successful Lib Dem donor club.

  • Built fundraising networks across Hampshire and Westminster.

  • Delivered events combining fun with fundraising.

I will:

  • Launch a Hampshire Business Forum – giving local leaders a platform and generating new donor streams.

  • Tap into my Hampshire network to deliver funds and create a fundraising club that makes high-value donors feel special.

  • Organise community events such as sponsored Save The Test walks to deliver funds for specific campaign wins.

STEP 4. FUNDRAISE TO WIN

Step 5. FIGHT VISIBLE LOCAL CAMPAIGNS

We will prove to residents that the Lib Dems are fighting hard to improve the local area. Campaigns like:

  • Save the River Test — end sewage dumping and hold water companies to account.

  • Safer Streets — re-open Romsey Police Station and tackle rural crime.

  • More Local GPs — campaign to cut waiting times, expand provision, and secure the investment our NHS desperately needs.

These campaigns will grow our grassroots, win the trust and support of local people, and show that the Liberal Democrats are the party with the drive, energy and values to deliver tangible improvements to the lives of those in RSN.
